Overview of the Spiritualist, Spiritualism, Spiritism Lifeway:

K03 Spiritualists, Spiritism & Spiritualism

Spiritualist philosophy promotes communication with spirits, reincarnation, and the moral and intellectual progress of humanity.

The National Spiritualist Association of Churches (NSAC) is a prominent institution within the Spiritualist movement. Established in the mid-19th century, the NSAC serves as the official representative for Spiritualist churches and organizations. At its core, Spiritualism embraces the belief in the continuity of life after death, validated through mediumship, where trained individuals act as conduits between the living and the spirit world. The NSAC provides guidelines for mediumship in its affiliated churches, emphasizing ethical living and personal growth.

Spiritualism Supported by Publications and Credentialed Leaders

Beyond its religious facets, the NSAC plays a pivotal role in preserving the history and philosophy of Spiritualism. Through archives, literature publications, and educational events, the association contributes to the understanding and continuation of this unique faith tradition. Furthermore, the NSAC actively ordains and credentials ministers and mediums, ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards within the Spiritualist community. The influence of the NSAC within the Spiritualist community remains significant. It provides a structured framework for individuals to explore their spiritual gifts, connect with the spirit world, and find comfort in the belief in life's continuity beyond death.

Spiritualism and Spiritism are Interconnected Spiritualist Philosophies

The United States has been home to both Spiritualism and Spiritism, distinct yet interconnected spiritualist philosophies. Rooted in the 19th century, Spiritualism gained popularity for its focus on evidence-based mediumship and the promotion of moral living. Spiritism, founded by Allan Kardec in France, spread to the U.S., emphasizing communication with the spirit world through systematic study groups based on "The Spirits' Book."

Reincarnation Essential for Moral and Intellectual Development

Both movements share a fundamental belief in the potential for reincarnation, viewing multiple lifetimes as essential for moral and intellectual development. While Spiritualism gained more visibility, Spiritism found a place within immigrant communities. Together, they have contributed to the development of psychic and mediumistic practices in the U.S., influencing the broader New Age and metaphysical spiritual landscape.

Mediums and Reincarnation Offer Seekers a Path

In summary, the NSAC and the spiritualist philosophies of Spiritualism and Spiritism in the United States collectively represent a diversity, but similar beliefs. Rooted in communication with spirits, a belief in reincarnation, and a commitment to moral and intellectual progress, these movements offer seekers a path to explore questions of life, death, and the nature of the human spirit
